By The Numbers - Smart Use of Tracking System

Classic example of using a tracking system to make marketing decisions: Business owner paid $2,000 for Sunday's newspaper ad. Now he needs to decide whether or not to keep the ad for next week. 1 day later, Monday night, he checked the system. Did the ad pull? How many leads came in? (This was an example a customer gave me this week. I smiled.)

By The Numbers - "If You Do Not Have An Effective Way To Track Your Leads, Sales And Marketing, You Are Losing Money."

I had an interesting conversation this morning with a business owner who spends a fair amount of money on advertising yet, in his words, "I could just as well be throwing it at the wall because I have no idea what's happening with my leads."

Some people spend hundreds of thousands per year on advertising and still don't know where their marketing dollars are going. In fact, when we were talking with a marketing brainstorm group at a local radio station a couple weeks ago, the leader stopped the group pretty much midstream and said, "You know, I just have to say how refreshing this is. We have worked with so many people, people coming in here who spend thousands of dollars on advertising, huge firms and they have no idea where their marketing is at. You people know where it is to the dime." (or something to that effect).

The last two scenarios are all too common in business today. Why? Why would someone spend thousands of dollars and not know where it was going? Would you go to the auto dealer, hand over that sum of money and just hope for a nice car and then wonder why you got something less? No, of course not!

In my mind, the only reason they do not track their marketing is because they simply do not know how. If they do know how, the process is too complicated and time-consuming and there is only so much time in a day. (Business owners are stretched from one end of the candle to the other already.)

Don't let this be your story. Find the ultimate business tool that will work for your business, and put it to good use. Your investment in that will be lightyears less than the increase in revenues within your business. It is an absolute truth when we say that if you do not have an effective way to track your leads, sales and marketing, you are losing money. We always say, "WINNERS KNOW THEIR NUMBERS!"

I wish you continued success.
